Antique mahogany tubular chiming longcase clock
Circa 1900
The richly carved solid mahogany case with inlaid rosewood panels of floral marquetry, the glazed door applied with carved astragals of trellis and floral swags, the sides also glazed, standing on a base inlaid with a basket of flowers and on raised, ogee bracket feet.
The two tier hood with serpentine shaped, carved, door, marquetry inlay and two carved finials.
Gilt brass serpentine shaped dial with silvered chapter ring having applied gilt Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and three subsidiary dials to the arch, with applied gilded rococo spandrels and further decoration in the centre and a curved plaque over 6 o’clock, engraved T Armstrong & Bros. Ltd. Manchester.
Eight day three train weight driven movement chiming the quarters on eight tubular bells and the hour on a further tube, driven by three brass sleeved weights and regulated by the brass pendulum.
The striking mechanism controlled by the 3 subsidiary dials;

Westminster / Whittington tune selection.
