Antique Victorian mahogany bracket clock

Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany Silvered dial with Roman numerals and two subsidiary dials, one Chime/Silent the other Slow/Fast, on a foliate scroll ground. Three train movement, striking Westminster chimes on five gongs, with pull repeat. High quality mahogany case case with scrolling foliate decoration and fretted side grills, with bevelled glass and brass framed door. 36cm high x 30cm wide x 20cm deep 14 inches high x 12” wide x 8” deep Winterhalder and Hofmeier are possibly the most famous of the German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910.
