THIS ITEM IS SOLD Rare antique silver vesta box or match safe in the form of a whistle. Circa 1875. This is a working whistle. There is no spring closer, as in a conventional vesta, it is a push fit and closes well. The suspension ring is on a rotating ring. Weighs 22.4 grams. Silver Birmingham hallmarks are worn with only the lion and anchor readable and what looks like a Victoria sovereigns head, the makers mark is not clear.
